Dra Ana Inés Torres is currently an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Chemical Engineering at the School of Engineering, Universidad de la República, Montevideo, Uruguay. Dr. Torres received her PhD. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and completed her postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Torres research is in the area of Process Systems Engineering, where she applies mathematical techniques to design sustainable processes. Current applications include design of networks for the production of biomass-based fuels and chemicals; analysis of technologies for chemical-based storage of surplus energy from intermittent sources, development of post-combustion CO2 capture non-biological processes and development of tools for assessment of environmental and social sustainability.
