Prof. Lourdes F. Vega is the Gas Research Center Joint Chair Professor and the Director of the Research and Innovation Center on CO2 and H2 (RICH Center) at Khalifa University of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She has developed her career between academia and industry, with academic positions in the USA, Spain and the Middle East. In the industrial sector she has been the General Director of MATGAS (public-private research center), Technology Director of Air Products and Chemicals, Founder and CEO of AlyaTech and Independent Member of the Board of Directors of the company ERCROS, SA. She is an Elected Corresponding Member of the Academy of Mathematics, Physical-Chemistry and Natural Sciences of Granada (Spain) and an Affiliated Member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academy of Scientists in the UAE. She has received several international awards for her scientific contributions in the area of clean energy and sustainability.

Professor Vega’s scientific work has been directed towards the combination of fundamental and applied research focused on sustainable processes and products. She is a leading authority in the area of molecular thermodynamics and clean energy and sustainability, focused on CO2 capture and utilization, nanomaterials for different applications, development of low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants, hydrogen applications, alternative solvents and water treatment. She is the sole author of a book on CO2 capture and utilization and has published more than 200 papers (more than 5900 citations), 5 patents under industrial exploitation, raised more than $50 millions in grants as chief investigator and serves in the editorial board of 5 ISI journals and in 5 international conference committees.
